Narrator: Viewers you are all welcome in this special presentation of News Dnn, Sahaj yoga unique Discovery and gift to mankind. Viewers let us proceed this journey. Which has become very satisfying for many people and in this journey we will be having retired general VK Kapoor. let us come and know how he came to Sahaj Yoga what are his experiences what does he get and what did he had contributed to the society from his spiritual experiences. So let us listen to Vijay Kapoor’s spiritual experience from him.

Interviewer: Viewers namaste you are all welcome in this special presentation of News Dnn, Sahaj Yoga unique Discovery and gift to mankind. Viewers it is such a journey which has been started from 1970 by our Reverend Shri Nirmala Mataji, with only one objective that is to enable people to meet their own self. Now you will be surprised “how can a person meet himself?”

Well, we regularly meet, “I am there”, “my name is there”, “my identity is there” and somewhere down the line these becomes our identity which stick to us for our entire life. And we could not understand what is beyond this name and identity because after it goes away then no identity and no name remains.

And this spiritual journey is something like that, where we have always a new co-passenger they give us new meaning to life. Our motive is to know ourselves and to know that God. And after knowing that God we can lead our life in a happy and peaceful path. Today in this interview there is so much special. Today the person who is sitting with us in News Dnn’s studio is Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor.

Mr Kapoor, you are welcome to the News Dnn studio. We’re very much thankful to you that you have spared time for us from your busy schedule. The objective is very simple, whatever you have gained in life how that can be achieved by a common man? And what did you gained in this spiritual journey, with the human life we also get it’s problems from the moment we took birth and going through them how the person reaches his objective his goal. And maybe it is this Race for which everybody is running from morning to night. Audience, it is very important to understand that a life of a defence personnel– we all know that there are two services, armed services that is Defence Services where it is strongly believe that humanity is the highest goal and nothing is important than that, sacrificing lives in order to protect human beings. Without knowing what is the religion and caste of others, and the only thing in religion is that the person in front is a human being and sacrificing everything to protect him. And with that background and the rank, if that person has an attraction towards spirituality it has got a meaning of it’s own. Okay then let us start our conversation with retired lieutenant Vijay Kapoor. Mr Kapoor how and when this journey begins.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): This is a very interesting story. My journey started in 1994 when I came back from the United Nations, New York. I was diagnosed with such a rare heart disease which doctor told me that it will cure by itself we have no medicine for it, and if we give you some medicine it might lower your blood pressure to that extent that you would not be able to lead a normal life. Therefore I was very sad from December to April of 1995, and I have this fear of getting board-out by Army because my heart was beating 200 times a minute, whereas it is 70 for a normal heart. So, therefore, I was fearing that I will get board-out by Army and therefore I was very unhappy.

So it was in Calcutta, there was a marriage which Shri Mataji was attending I didn’t know her at that time and I was too being invited to that wedding from the bridegroom’s side. And Shri Mataji was Godmother of the bride. So Shri Mataji was facilitating the marriage. I will be staying at the same hotel where the marriage was performed, when I saw her I felt that she could relieve me of my problems, though I didn’t know who she was at that point of time. To cut the long story short, there was Mr Rajesh Shah who was our Trustee at that time for National trust, I didn’t know him too, but I went towards him who was standing near Shri Mataji and I told him my name is Brigadier Kapoor and I want to meet Shri Mataji. So he asked me about it, I told him that I had some problems and I feel that I can be cured by Shri Mataji. So he refused he was told me “you can see that it is a marriage ceremony”, so I said to him that “if you do not allow me I will go myself” so he said “ok come” after half an hour. So I went there after half an hour and now he took me to Shri Mataji. My wife went and sat near Shri Mataji, and I was standing around 10 feets from her and she asked “so son what is the problem?” then I told her everything, that I was in New York when I was diagnosed with some heart ailment and for that my heart is beating rapidly and which is not curable according to doctors.

She said “that’s it?”

she said “put the right hand on to your heart and bring the left-hand forward towards me and close your eyes and take a deep breath” and she give me some mantras to utter, so I did them. She said “repeat again” so I did it again, she again requested me to repeat, so I did it for the third time. Then Shri Mataji said that “you are cured, now you can go to your doctor”.

I said “Shri Mataji why I can’t feel any change?” she said “Son. You don’t have compassion right now. You are not sensitive enough so you do not understand what has happened to you”.

So I remained silent. I was seeing that everybody was saluting her doing the Pranam so I went close to her and pranam her, she asked me to come closer and patted me on my back, with her fist. And she told me “now you are perfectly alright when you will return to Delhi after returning trying to practice Sahaja Yoga meditation, you will never face this problem again”. And for the past 4 months I was sleeping for 1-2 hour only, but at that night I slept for 10 hours. And when I wake up in the morning I could feel the joy inside me and I also wrote a poem for Shri Mataji. So what I want to say is that, Mata Ji awaken my Kundalini though I understand it afterwards. Because of which my problems went away and that was the first day and you can say, from that day I started my journey in Sahaja Yoga.

Interviewer: Spiritual turn came in your life whereas it is told that in Army’s life or defence life it is a different life in itself, they have a different view about the life, about the people, about the country, dedication is always there, but what is the scope of spiritual interests? Though we are not talking of religion. Mr brigadier there is a hard/ tough zone that you live in and to do spiritual practices there and to think about it is in itself becomes a different task itself

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): No it is not like this. Actually, if you look at the soldiers, I cannot say that they are very much spiritual but suddenly they are religious, why? Because they know that any day we can lose their lives and especially those who are in the front line. The event today who are in the front line with Pakistan, or with China. So they have this fear all the time “anything can happen to me”. So yes they are religious but did not understand spirituality. So I would like to say based on my experiences in Army that if you teach them– I myself have taught many soldiers Sahaj yoga and what was incredible was that Army Headquarter accepted that, that “you can go and teach this everywhere”. So I have gone to many places and taught many soldiers Sahaj yoga. One thing you have mentioned correctly that we do not remember to become spiritual or to meditate upon something.

Interviewer: Somewhere down the line we have this preconceived notion from childhood that a spiritual person is very soft, courteous and they would surrender everywhere and would not fight, and maybe they would not speak for their right. All the personal experiences that you have because you have spent so many time in Sahaj yoga, and you have tried to spread Sahaja Yoga in the lives of our soldiers. The introduction of a special thing that happens in a life of a soldier/ Army person’s life in their busy schedule how much time did it took you to come into this life.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): See, I came here to cure my disease and as Shri Mataji have told me that I was cured and I can go to my doctor. But I didn’t go to the doctor because previously I had done so much roundabout of hospitals that this time my heart didn’t want to go. I learnt to do the meditation as she had had told me “when you return to Delhi there you can ask someone from Sahaja Yoga center to give you self-realization”. So I came to Delhi and went to the took self-realization.

The first time I took the self-realization, there was Pooja ceremony that was being performed so I attended the pooja also. I felt too much enjoyment. So I can say that once this energy is awakened inside you, you got attracted towards Sahaj Yoga. You couldn’t believe me that I didn’t felt vibrations even after doing it for one month. And almost after 1.5 months like a good soldier, I was doing the meditation, as I was told that 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. Is the best time for doing meditation so I was meditating at that time. That day I felt as if something was blasted inside me and every part of my body was radiating vibrations, and a cold Breeze was blowing. From the head, from the palm of the hand, from the stomach, from the nose, from the eyes, from the ears, from all the places. And I felt such intensity that I never had that experience again in my life. And the intensity of that experience was so large that I understood what is the meaning of awakening of the Shakti/ Kundalini. And I never had to look back after that, and I progressed ahead. Many experiences happened in Sahaj yoga that–

Interviewer: Dear viewers there are few guests listening to them we become speechless, and we enjoy more listening to them. Other times we try to collect information by asking questions. This is something very good, which we got to know from general Kapoor. Mr Kapoor, we generally ask questions like “what benefits did you get after coming to Sahaj yoga?” or “what is the difference you felt in your life?” and one difference that you have already told because you are coming with the ailment and then you got the benefit that you’re illness was cured. There is too much misconception that is spread out in the whole world around Kundalini Jagran. Like “how Kundalini Jagran can happen this fast, what are the benefits that we get from Kundalini Jagran”. There are many different countries with different religion, and peoples are too much engrossed in different things that he does not know whom they wholeheartedly accept and not. You have done great work in spreading the awareness and you have told us that you went to soldiers and the common man and told them about Kundalini. Today in this discussion we would like to focus on two points. First, is that we want the general Kapoor may please share his experience with Sahaj Yoga and secondly is how a Kundalini awakening transforms a person into a new person, we want that you explain it in very simple and direct sentence. In a nutshell of two minute, 10 minutes people who are watching this interview may understand that awakening of kundalini which is always considered as the hardest thing, how it is achieved with that simplicity and that transforms your life too. So the first question we would like to ask you, Mr Kapoor, to tell something about Kundalini Jagran that you have known in Sahaj yoga and have told others.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): I have told you a few times back that first time when I felt it the experience that I had it was so intense that I could not forget it and now also if I have some kind of doubt I recall that experience. Now I’d like to tell you that what happens to your life because of this. When I get the self-realisation then I was brigadier and after two months my board had happened and I became a major general. And when I became a major-general I was given the responsibility of commander division which is called armoured division in Army. Which comprises of tanks and armoured vehicles. Once I took the responsibility of that division I was told that– I went to Jhansi, I was told that my division was sent to the desert area and a big exercise was going to happen, and therefore they have already reached there and you too have to join them there. So within one week I also whet there in the desert. So I would like to mention for instance, that changes happen in the Army when we have this awakening inside us. The core commander that I had he was very hard taskmaster and he was well known in the army for being a very hard Task Master he told me that the exercise which is going to happen that is your test exercise and in that you have to operate in these places and he told me some aims, that is what is the aim of this exercise. So with this aims and the terms of reference that is the limitations which were laid out you have to make your plan within them. So when I came back at that time my vibrations were so strong that in whatever topic I questioned mother I did got the answer. So when I prayed to mother and told her “I have three options in front of me which option should I adopt?” and you could not believe me that the option that I got was the one with hardest route, where the sand dunes reach the height of 60-80 m. Where tanks could not climb them. So for a few moments I was a little shocked. So I called my Brigade commanders and did some discussions with them. And they told me that if we could achieve this that is going through this route we would surprise our enemy completely. So I told my Core commander about my choice, “and these are going to be the phases and stages of operations”. And he was very much astonished, he said “how could you go from this route, are you sure?” I said, “I’m completely sure”. So he said, “well it is your Waterloo” that is if you fail you will lose miserably. And I replied, “ok sir we will see it”. You do not believe that the movement(speed) of our team was 3 km per hour because the high sand dunes. As we were there for nearly 2 months so our tank crew had become highly trained for war. So they made such ways which lead us to our objective which was 30 km inside enemy territory. And you would not believe that there was no enemy there. Because they have never imagined enemy forces will choose this route, so they have marked a black cross in those places. So you understand that these vibrations which we get from the awakening of our Kundalini because when our Brahmharandra opens up which connects us to the almighty power. And once we are connected to that Power, the vibrations that we are feeling is the truth. This is the absolute truth. So gradually this faith must come inside us that to believe in these vibrations. And we should not have doubts. And if you have doubts then vibrations also cannot give us answers. So there should be no doubt in your mind that were the best vibrations we should choose that Path, also in our daily life. So gradually I understand Kundalini and vibrations. Today after this journey of 23 years, I have learned that Sahaj Yoga is one such technique of meditation that if you have established yourself in the Sahaj Yoga you can never do any mistake. And by chance if you do any mistake, you ask forgiveness and forgive others. So this is the way of Sahaj yoga.

Interviewer: For a common man, how kundalini awakening brings changes in his life. Because we have seen the extensive scale at which Sahaj Yoga is practised, small children are practising Sahaj Yoga and in a society where it is commonly told that it is not the age to look after God. In youth also we have seen that there are many children who are doing Sahaj Yoga the old age is considered as the age 2 meditate upon God. Age group which is from 25 to 45 around where so much responsibility is on the Shoulders of a man to make a career to do marriage then children are born to look after them to raise them so in all these conditions and in all these systems Kundalini in all of these categories that is in the children in youth and the married people what role does it play in their lives.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): The major role that Kundalini awakening play is, which give you the faith that you are in the hands of God. That means “I am in the kingdom of God” and you gradually feel this not on the first day but slowly and slowly it progresses. For example, I would like to share an instance. After giving self-realization in a national stadium near Noida, I was coming back and was walking towards my car which was placed on the side of main road. A car came from behind and hit me on my back. The driver of that car didn’t have any licence, my body after that impact was thrown to a height of 10 feet. This was witnessed by the people who were standing there. The shoes that I was wearing were found 30 metres away, so much was the impact. If this had happened with an ordinary person he would’ve died instantly there, all the persons who were witnessing this they had guessed that this person is dead. On the third day, I reached the Chhindwara for the puja ceremony, nothing had happened to me. So what I wanted to say was that when the kundalini is awakened you have complete protection of god.

That means God will never let anything happened to you, this is the faith that must come inside you and it does come. Second, is that you get that energy to do that work. For example when I got the self-realization where I became the Divisional commander after becoming a major general. As per I have seen normally GOC ( general officer commanding division) they sat all the day but their files never got cleared, I never took more than 2 hours to clear my files because your grasp becomes so intense that the moment you read something you understand it instantly. That is what that person wants or that formation wants or what does that unit want. So the efficiency of your work increases rapidly. Now the third, if you have children I have seen that if they do meditation they started coming first and second in their classes those children who were the backbenchers.

I did like to tell you a story about backbenchers though I feel little ashamed now to tell, when I was a cadet in NDA I was a backbencher, everybody used to say that he can’t do anything. And after 40 years I took the retirement as a Lieutenant General. If there is a course for Lieutenant General with 200 cadets only 2-3 get selected. So you see a backbencher becomes a Lieutenant General. After this awakening our understanding maybe on global problems, regional problems or domestic problems becomes very sharp and it reduces the probability of committing any mistake. And another thing which happens is a maturity that comes inside you, how that happen? whenever you utter a wrong word or you do something wrong, at that instant you Chitta instantly tells you “Kapoor sahib what are you doing?”.

Interviewer: It is like introspection.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): Absolutely your soul tells you what are you doing? similarly you Chitta tells you “what you are doing? Should this thinking come into the mind of a Sahaj Yogi?”.

Your system becomes such that you could find the fault within yourself.

Interviewer: If we translate this into simple words so it becomes like this when we eat, many things go inside us, some helps in making blood, some give nutrition to our body parts. But if that waste product if it remains in the body it becomes very harmful. So it is in the material form. So what about the waste of thought, which we cannot see which has no physical dimension somehow that is disposed of by Kundalini. Kundalini energy starts flushing out it from our thoughts, from our minds, from our body and from our Ahankaar and buddhi.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): And from this, we could understand that when our beloved Shri Mataji used to say that these Shadripu gradually starts to leave us. These problems which were once troubling us now I have seen that over a period of time they started leaving. So this is a major advantage that we got in our life. And second is that the fear goes away completely from our lives. When you establish/ establishing  yourself in Sahaj yoga you try to think of Shri Mataji in your heart for 24 hours. Mataji is Jagdamba’s Avatar if the mother is inside our heart then there is nothing to fear. So this thing started to happen to us. And if you see in our society you will find there are many people who have fear before starting the work or while doing the work. So it doesn’t happen in the lives of Sahaj Yogi.

Interviewer: So this also relate with your statement that our soldiers mainly who are in the front their lives are always in stakes. And somewhere down the line be it Soldier or a civilian, all are afraid of something. Sometimes he is afraid of his occupation, sometimes he is afraid of diseases, sometimes is afraid of the society and this fear is persistent in our mind and heart. Do you believe that awakening of Kundalini freed us the fear?

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): Absolutely, it should free us from the fear and if it is not happening with you then you can be sure that you are not meditating properly. Because if you do meditation daily, as it has been told to do meditation at least twice a day. And if you see properly then you could understand that a Sahaj Yogi always remains in meditation. For example, though I am talking to you but my Chitta is at Sahasrara. So what I want to say is that gradually our systems become such that we always remain in meditation. And if we can achieve this and this is called nirvikalpa. When our energy always flows within ourselves. And when we reached that nirvikalpa stage then you can be assured that nothing wrong can happen with you.

Interviewer: Very beautiful. Very beautifully he has described how peace is established how we become free from fear. In our daily life if the decisions that we used to take was based on our mental perceptions, we had this idea of this is right and this is wrong on the on basis of mind, intellect and if that thing is done by that person after his awakening of Kundalini and somehow that his level of intellect becomes connected with that energy of God which does all the work of life. We have done so many interviews, and every time all the guests have given us valuable information. And They brought out problems that we all are facing, and those peoples have told us that after the interview they had received thousands of phone calls from Around The World asking more or less the same question that “by doing meditation how can they make their life happy?”. So there is a question that we would like to ask Mr general Kapoor that, regarding meditation there a lot of misconception. This or that happened while meditation you have to do a lot of a struggle to do meditation or we cannot concentrate at all. We want that with great simplicity that the whole world is seeing your experience watching you. Please share it with our experience what is meditation and what is it’s beauty?

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): I would only tell you that Sahaj yoga meditation is very easy and if you do it correctly but it is also very critical if you do not do it properly. Now I will tell you the proper way. There are few basics of Sahaja Yoga. There is an audio tape in which Shri Mataji had described the basics of Sahaj yoga. If you understand the basics then it is not difficult to meditate in Sahaja Yoga? what are basics? what is our aim?

Mother had told “to become the soul.”
How will you become the soul?
Through meditation.
Upon whom we will meditate?
Shri Mataji.

What are the feelings that you have for Shri Mataji?
Mother has told to have the feeling towards me. Now, for example, I will tell you the feeling I had for the mother, the feeling that I had is “maa you are my mother, you are my father you are my Guru, you are my master, you are the soul you are the super soul (God), you are the love in my life, you are the aim of my life” so with this feeling if you sit in meditation. Then you can, of course, go in meditation. Secondly, you should know your weakness. What is my weakness? that means you should know the position of your chakras and status of your brain, on which side to lean left or right? If you got to know that normally if you lean in left or right then it becomes easy for you to meditate because in the starting before meditation, the moment you started to raise your energy, you first remove that weakness..

Interviewer: Mr Kapoor I am sorry that I am interrupting you in the middle. People who are watching this interview from around the world about 90 % of them don’t know about this left and right thing. As you have picked up this topic so I would like to ask you to describe this left and the right thing to our audience.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): Ok, the left and the right thing are we have three Nadis in our body by whose help we do meditation. In the left we have Ida Nadi, which is attributed with tamasic temperament. On the right, we have Pingala Nadi which is attributed with Rajasic temperament and in the middle is Sushumna Nadi which is attributed with sattvik temperament. So we have to be in the middle. We have to do the meditation through the middle Nadi. If we are on left and then right we will imbalanced. If you know your weakness, for the first 5 to 10 minutes try to remove that weakness then bring yourself into balance and then do the meditation you will never face difficulty in meditation. There are other fundamentals that we should keep in mind, number one is how you have to remove your weakness before meditation.

Second is a feeling of respect and love for mother as Shree Ganesha had for her mother Gauri. Like Shri Hanuman had for Shri Ram and the likeness of that bhakti must be inside us for our mother. The third point, when we do work in our daily life check where your Chitta is, ask yourself “where is my Chitta?” Chitta will instantly come to your aid. You will see that with practice, you can put your Chitta in your mind which is in Sahasrara and we believe bramharandra puri is where our mind is, put your Chitta here and anytime throughout the day check where your Chitta is. The more you keep your Chitta in your mind where the mother is there where our soul is and you will learn to do a meditation that fast. So that was the technique of doing meditation. We should never think that we have done something wrong and because of that we are unable to do meditation. Because you will definitely be doing meditation but you must check that if you are in balance? the easiest way to come in balance is to keep your Chitta upon your Muladhara for few times pray to Ganesh Ji because balance is something that Ganesh Ji gives you. You can listen to mothers Discourse. Balance is something that we get from Ganesh Ji. The moment we fix our Chitta on Ganesh Ji and we say “hey God please do a favour on us, have mercy on us, forgive us” and pray to him “God give us balance” so you will see that you have become balanced.

Interviewer: Very beautiful. Today in this show we are having discussions with retired Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor. We have tried to touch all the aspects which are related to meditation, spirituality with Kundalini awakening and with daily life. He has shared his personal experiences on how we can make our lives easier and simple. And we hope that you have got it anyhow what you’re searching for. So we did like to ask you the last question because you have a background in armed forces or defense forces and also you have served in such a high rank. One common problem for all we heard Defense Services personnel or common man, he says “I’ve lack of time, I am very busy” or “I wanted to do meditation but my schedule is so busy that I cannot do so” and so we want a little advice from you for them on how to manage time?

Lieutenant General Vijay Kapoor (retd): For people like these be it ladies and gents for both of them I would like to say that you donate Sahaj yoga your 4 days or 8 days, and you do meditation in morning and evening as prescribed, give us a little time. The moment this energy is awakened inside you after self-realization you will have no time management problem and no problem of another kind because time will automatically come. We always have time but we somehow convince ourselves that we do not have time. You can tell us that in a day how much time you have when you are not watching television, reading a newspaper or not talking to anybody utilise that time in meditation and for first few days you will learn to meditate, try to maintain discipline then you will see time is manageable and you could meditate too. And your life will change. This change is such that your life fills with happiness. Only happiness and happiness will be there all around. No problems will be there their family, or be it of workplace there will be no problem with you and you will thank Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi that she had connected you which Sahaj yoga, Jai Shri Mataji.

Interviewer: Very very thank you Mr Kapoor for giving us your valuable time, and we hope that the efforts of Kapoor Sahib which is continuing since 25 years in spreading this nectar, we hope that this interview will help in this direction and will be viewed by people all over the world and maybe they will be inspired to progress towards that truth for which he had devoted himself.

He himself got that truth and is now trying to carry out the responsibility to distribute that truth. Again from all the members of News Dnn studio and from all of us we thank you from the bottom of our heart that you have given your precious time to us and we hope that our viewers will got what they wanted.

This is all for today, we will meet soon with a new guest, a new person. Namaskar. So this was the interview of retired Lieutenant general Vijay Kapoor, we hope that his experiences will give you new direction in your life and will shape your personality and somehow will help you reach your aim. We will soon meet with a new co-passenger on this spiritual journey.

Sahaj yoga a unique Discovery and gift to mankind.
